BTW, I fall into all these categories. I was raised in a conservative religion and my ex-wife and I were virgins when we married. We learned immediately that we were rather incompatible (among other things, we had very mismatched libidos) but stuck with it for 25 years. Our marriage was never great but was good for a while and would have continued being so had my ex’s borderline personality disorder not asserted itself.

That’s jaded me and I would never marry again without living with the woman precisely so I could bail if things started going rotten. (I’d also keep our accounts separate and insist on a pre-nup.)
